Initially billed as the first competitive meeting between classy two-year-olds Vancouver and Ottoman, the latter now appears to be the leading chance for success after being confirmed in the 2015 Silver Slipper Stakes final field by trainer John O’Shea.

Charging home to win a strong Warwick Farm barrier trial prior to his competitive debut, Ottoman (barrier 8) stamped his claims as one to watch when taking out the talent-rich TAB Multi Plate (1100m) on December 20th.

Having performed well in another Warwick Farm hit-out on February 9th, O’Shea who also confirmed Holler (barrier 1) in the 2015 Silver Slipper final field, is confident of a successful first-up tilt for Ottoman this weekend.

Mishani Honcho has secured an impressive race record of four wins and two minor place finishing over his seven start career so far and will line up for the 2015 Silver Slipper Stakes as without doubt the most experienced runner.

Charging home to win the Toxfree Maiden Plate (900m) on debut in October, Mishani Honcho (barrier 5) ran second to Wicked Intent in a Doomben minor over 1050m on November 29th before returning to the winner’s circle in the Iveco Handicap (1200m) on December 6th.

Luckless when checked early and blocked for a run in the Brisbane Marriott Hotel Handicap (1110m) on December 20th, the Jet Spur gelding made a successful transition to black type racing when taking out the Group 3 McLachlan Stakes (1200m) on December 27th before repeating the dose in the $150,000 Racing Minister’s Classic (1200m) on January 17th.

Having placed third in his most recent start on February 7th, trainer Les Ross is confident his runner is more than capable of success in his maiden Sydney appearance on Saturday.

Voilier has been underlined as a serious Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) prospect this season, however trainer Gary Nickson will use results of Saturday’s Group 2 Silver Slipper to decide on whether or not he should take position in the Golden Slipper in late March.

Taking out a racing barrier trial over 800m prior to his competitive debut, Voilier charged home late to win the Sire Custodian Plate (1100m) on December 6th and performed similarly well in another trial on February 9th.

Allocated the ideal barrier 3, Voilier figures as arguably the best chance of beating Ottoman in the 2015 Silver Slipper Stakes this weekend.

Paceman (barrier 7), Headwater (barrier 4), Alart (barrier 6) and Snitzel’s Goddess (barrier 2) complete the 2015 Silver Slipper Stakes final field.
